Hello Poly!

I am posting today to give those that might not have someone to chase or be chased by to find someone else who would be willing to do so. Here is the information on the Sadie Hawkins Day curse.

Ladies, put on your best running clothes. Gentlemen, lace up those sneakers. Any boy caught by a girl during this all out City chase is obligated to marry his captor and be her spouse for a day. This says nothing about who wears the pants in the relationship because it's absolutely a woman's prerogative to make him do the dishes in an apron...and only an apron. [Tools like grappling hooks, scooters, superpowers, or magic are allowed to capture a boy. For characters who don't fall in either male or female categories or characters who don't fit traditional gender traits (female but looks/acts like a boy, male but looks/acts like a girl), players are free to put them in either the captor or captured roles.]

Please post with your characters name, and which role you would like them to have so that others may find you. Thank you, and have a great curse!

Sorry to have to hiatus so soon after joining, but I'll be going out town this weekend starting tomorrow. I'll have access to a computer and may be able to respond to the occasional tag, but for all intents and purposes I'll be quite busy and unavailable. :D

Notes augmented

We've enhanced and de-bugged Notes. If you haven't tried it yet, now's the time! You can create a private note when you ban multiple users. You can also delete multiple notes at once. Lastly, paid users have the option to add a note (visible only to you) whenever you add or remove a friend (guaranteed to avoid embarrassing social mishaps). If you don't currently have a paid account, you can upgrade now! It only takes a few minutes and costs less than a bad shopping mall haircut (plus, it's way more fashionable)!

Product tweaks and bug kill

1. In another effort to zap spam, comments containing links from domains LiveJournal deems untrustworthy are now automatically screened
2. If you sign up to get notifications of the Writer's Block question of the day, you'll now see the daily question in the email notification, so you'll have a little extra time to ponder before you post. You can subscribe to Writers Block notifications here
3. The issue causing random comments to vanish has been fixed!
4. If you visit a LiveJournal page and get prompted to log in, you'll be returned to the same page after you sign in (Thanks, Dreamwidth)!
5. If you don't edit the timestamp for an entry at all, the entry timestamp will indicate the time the entry was posted instead of the time the Update Journal page was loaded
6. Comments with paddings/backgrounds render correctly within the comment box (and will no longer wrap outside the box and break frames/margins)

New FCK fixes rich text editor!

1. We've updated our RTE (Rich Text Editor) to FCKeditor version 2.6.5
2. When switching from the RTE to HTML editor, links for syndicated feeds are no longer broken
3. RTE now functions properly in Safari 4.0
4. An extra line/space will not be auto-inserted whenever you switch from RTE to HTML editor
5. The insert image link now works correctly in all browsers

Papered in postcards

A couple of weeks ago, we asked you to send in postcards to surround us with LiveJournal community. Thanks for coming through! We've received postcards all the way from Germany, Finland, and Canada and from all over the US, including Texas, Florida, Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, Indiana, Hawaii, and Oklahoma just to name just a handful. We're thrilled with our improved decor.

Not a hiatus.

Just a sort of slowatus. I'm not very well right now and feeling even worse about not keeping up with tags. I will get to them all, I just wanted to explain the delay and reasons why threads may be shortish for a bit. If I haven't got back to something in ages and you think I've forgotten, please message me and let me know!

Bet ya didn't expect me to be back so soon, I'm not! Chelle just asked me to throw this up for her. Short emergency full hiatus for her characters due to computer problems. That's Road [dreamsofnoah], Doll [freckleddoll], and Christopher [iknowmore]. o/

I've been struck by a fit of unexpected complete fail thanks to getting sick and being completely unable to muster the energy for anything much past work. Since I haven't been able to keep up with what's going on in poly, I think it's best for me to take a short hiatus until about the 25th of the month.

With luck I'll have my energy back within the week and nobody will even notice the difference; I'll still be around, and also free for pinging via AIM at Joie de Combat.

I might end the hiatus by taking Squall out of the City for a couple of days to let him pick up some Dissidia canon, but for the time being both he and Luck (favorsthebrave) are still around, just busy with work and brooding - Luck over Firo leaving the City, Squall because, well, it's what he does.

Rights for Squall go to Seifer and Rinoa, who is welcome to abuse him however she likes for Sadie Hawkins Day and I will at least be able to tag for that. Rights for Luck go to Ennis.

As a note.

I am extending my hiatus to the end of this month (I edited my comment on the hiatus post, but if this isn't okay, poke me, mods). However, I've re-evaluated my ability to handle characters here and I can only handle a couple. I'm keeping the ones I've been here with the longest.

So, I'm dropping the other two. That means Vincent and Harry are staying at home permanently. I know I picked Vincent back up again briefly, but I don't think I can devote the necessary energy to him here.

School calls to me as only the putrid siren of general education requirement academia can. And so, I must away... sort of... in a way.

With the curse over the past two days, I almost forgot.

On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice.

Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials.

We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait!

As usual, I will be updating status.livejournal.org before and after, just in case you are not able to reach our main website during the work.

This'll teach me.

So, my laptop is having display issues. Normally I'd be able to handle them, but recently they've been getting to the point where they're so unpredictable that I've been having no time whatsoever to tackle them or save anything, even Lazarus won't do anything. Work and RP have been constantly interrupted due to my display issues, which blank out my screen and while the processor still runs, I have to force shut down, losing most of my work.

Which is ALSO why I've been dropping tags left, right and centre and I really, REALLY feel terrible about it, but I assure you it's not intentional and I would love to backdate if you guys don't mind ;; Until then, slowatus for:

Leon will be leaving the City today for a week so I can canon review for him and possibly canon update him to some time in Tales of Destiny 2. The decision is still pretty up in the air and dependent on if I can get in the mood to play all of ToD2. But canon updated or not, he'll be returning on Sunday the 15th.

Roommates, feel free to notice that Leon left Chaltier in the City when he left. Godmode rights and swordian ownership on Chal will go to Yuri until Leon returns. And don't mess up his corner, guys B|

This will also be a hiatus for me until that Sunday ♥

Uh right, when you haven't looked at your computer much at all in over a week, that's when you know. Hiatus for me for life, the universe, and me trying to figure out how I'm going to make my new job later this week work out schedule-wise. and I am so, so sorry for dropping all those tags on 4th wall.
